Why get a quilt appraisal?  Quilt owners and makers have quilts appraised for a variety of reasons - insurance coverage, donation, sale, curiosity, etc.  The most common reason is for insurance purposes. If you ship a quilt and it is lost, you are only able to recover the usual cost of a piece of bedding. As Quilters we realize that the cost of fabric, patterns, thread, quilting and labor far exceed the comparable costs of bedding. It is a wise idea to have a quilt appraised before shipping. Quilts can also be appraised to be included on our homeowner’s insurance policy.

When and how much?  Quilt appraisals will be available during all show hours: Thursday (5-8pm), Friday (9am-5pm), and Saturdary (9am-4pm).  The appraisal fee is $65 and is due at the time of the appraisal.  Download the 2017 Appraisal Form.

  • Appraisals of Hanging Quilts: submit the completed form (instructions at bottom) to schedule an appointment of a show entry.
  • Walk-In Appraisals: available any time during regular show hours.

Meet the Appraiser for the 2017 Quilt Show

Joyce Larson, Sierra Vista, AZ
Joyce received her AQS appraiser certification in 2008 and is a member of PAAQT -the Professional Association of Appraisers/Quilted Textiles.  She belongs to the Hummingbird Stitchers Quilt Guild and is the chair for the Vintage Quilts section of the HSQG show.  She enjoys expanding her knowledge through independent study of quilt history, fabric dating, fabric identification and current quilting trends by attending national workshops.
