Executive Board: President-Elect

Norma Russen

Norma and her husband, Bruce, moved to Arizona in 2004 from Toledo, Ohio to be close to their children and grandchildren. They have a daughter and two granddaughters who live in Tempe, and a son and two grandsons who now live in California.

Norma worked for a large company in Toledo for over 28 years, first in Marketing/Advertising and then in Corporate Accounting during her last eight years. She has a BS in Accounting from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH.

Sewing was always a hobby for her but she had little time for it until she retired and moved to Arizona. A neighbor talked her in to joining her on a Valley Shop Hop in 2005 and she was instantly hooked on quilting (and fabric)! She loved sewing and quilting so much that she got a job working at Mulqueen Sewing where she could share her knowledge with their customers. She worked there for the last ten years in many capacities, including teaching machine operations and embroidery classes.

Quilting has become such a passion for her that she purchased a Gammill Statler Longarm in 2016 so that she could complete the whole quilting process, from piecing to final quilting. It will definitely come in handy for quilting charity quilts.

Norma joined AQG in 2008, but was a Member-at-Large and not an active member of the Guild until she retired from her position at Mulqueen Sewing and joined the Rippers Chapter in Mesa in 2016. She is looking forward to being a Board Member and serving in her first position with the AQG.
