Director: Quilt Show

Darla Orndorff

Darla started her first quilt in 1971. Both her Mother and Grandmother were good seamstresses and they taught her to sew.  She watched and participated in the quilt revival of the 1970s and 1980s.  She still prefers to piece, applique and quilt by hand.  Over the years, several of her quilts have been juried into national shows and she has won awards for hand quilting.

She is a retired Air Force Reserve, Judge Advocate General (JAG) with 23 years of service.  Her first duty station was Williams AFB, in Mesa AZ.  Through the years, she and her husband have lived in many states and on both coasts.  She has been involved in many quilt guilds and has held various leadership positions.  Although she has been in AZ, this time since 2003, she only joined AQG and Nimble Thimbles a couple of years ago.

She stepped into the breach and accepted the position as Quilt Show Director.  She loves attending quilt shows and knows they take coordination and infinite volunteer hours.  This her way of giving back to the AQG community
