Chapter Reports: Threadplayers

2014 Reports

September 2014

We are pleased to report that our biannual show held this past May was a success! Our show was toured by 228 visitors many of which had their interest in joining our group piqued by the works displayed. We are very excited at the prospect of growth in our group. Our recent programs have included: felting with wool and painting with a variety of mediums. These techniques, demonstrated by our members, have proven inspirational for future works. Each month, one of our members hosts a “Creative Circle” in which they welcome the group into their home providing us with a place to enjoy camaraderie. We share current projects, ideas, and sometimes struggles with creative blocks which are often solved by the helpful input of others. We are celebrating the progression and growth of our members. Next month, we will explore a retrospective look into the works of Judy Spivey. She is a talented gourd artist who will share with us some of her earliest works then move to her most recent works. It is always inspiring to see the growth of artists! We have hopes to enter a “group entry” in the Payson Roundup coming up this October so make plans to visit this wonderful show held in the beautiful Rim country. As is our custom, we are currently working on a new challenge which was recently presented by our challenge committee. The new challenge is inspired by the art of Zentangle. The possibilities are endless and we look forward to sharing new projects sparked by this new craze.

April 2014

The Payson Threadplayers are getting ready for their Biennial “Fiber Art Show “ on May 3rd and 4th, 2014. You will not want to miss this extravaganza. We have lots of challenges that have really stretched our minds and some have even lost their minds. It is being held at the Gila County Community College in Payson AZ on 210 N. Mudsprings Road.

The Threadplayers have been having lots of fun the past few months. Wet have taken many road trips to Visions Gallery, The Art Quilt Show in Chandler for Center of the Arts, The Craft Museum at ASU, the Sedona Public Library Quilt Show, the Sedona Quilt Store, the AQS Quilt Show in Phoenix and the AQG Quilt Show in Mesa. WOW!! We have been busy.

We hope to see you all on May 3rd or 4th at the Threadplayers Fiber Art Quilt Show in Payson.
