Chapter Reports: Strawberry Patchers

2016 Reports

September 2016

The Strawberry Patchers sponsored our 20th Annual Quilt Show in Pine, AZ in June. Our quilt show was very successful. So many beautiful quilts and many ribbon winners. Congratulations to all our winners. Our own Strawberry Patcher, Leslie Peacock, won Best of Show for her quilt “Birds of a Feather”, which she pieced and our own Debbie Stanton completed with her longarm quilting. Debbie Stanton took home her own honor by winning the ribbon from the Arizona Quilters Hall of Fame for her “Tangled Up in Blue” quilt. The Strawberry Patchers felt very honored to display “Stars for a Hero” quilt which Carol Dana received a Special Award. Looking forward to next year’s quilt show.
At our August business meeting we had a special guests, Ken Davidson and his wife, Barbara, who represented the Rim Country Quilt Roundup Quilt Show. Ken Davidson spoke to the Strawberry Patchers about how we can easily sign up to volunteer for the Rim Country Quilt Roundup Quilt Show which takes place this October 14th and 15th at the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino in Payson, AZ.
The Strawberry Patchers are always welcoming new members. We meet on the first and third Thursday of every month except for February, October and December. The first Thursday is our business meeting and the third Thursday is our sew or class day. More information on our activities is available on our website, http://strawberrypatchers.com. April 2016

Well it is that time of year again. The Strawberry Patchers are gearing up for our annual Quilt Camp at Camp Tontazona. You wouldn’t think we get a lot of quilting done in 3 days, but surprisingly we get a lot of projects done. In between all of our projects that we work on we are able to find the time to have an ugly jewelry exchange, a Mug Rug exchange, a fat quarter game and our Saturday night auction. Lots of fun and laughs.

At our Christmas Party we did pull a winning ticket for our Opportunity Quilt. Our winner for 2015 is Betty B. from Buckeye, Az. Betty was very excited when she heard that she had won our beautiful Opportunity Quilt. Congratulations to you Betty.

Every Thursday in the month of February were our sewing days. We just had fun visiting and eating and sewing.

The Strawberry Patchers are getting ready for our 20th annual Quilt Show which will take place Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th, 2016. Our Quilt Show takes place at the Cultural Hall in Pine, AZ. Hope all can come and enjoy lots of beautiful quilts. Just to let you know that our tickets will be on sale at our Quilt show for this year’s Opportunity Quilt.

One of our members wanted to share a beautiful story about the Dueker Ranch which offers horse therapy for Special Needs Children and Adults. Our member was walking with one of their horses who was caring a child on his back. When the ride ended the child reach down and put his arms around the horses’ neck and said Thank you Horse. Our Patcher member almost lost her composer.

The Strawberry Patchers are always welcoming new members. We meet on the first and third Thursday of every month except for February and October. On those 2 months we have sew days every Thursday.
